Biography I qualified and practiced as social worker in South Africa. Although I have worked in the statutory sector at Childwelfare and the Department of Social Development, I found myself most enjoying Adult Social Work and working with people affected by dementia (those with a diagnoses, and those who support them).
After completing my PhD at the University of Edinburgh, I started teaching on social work or dementia programs at various universities.

I enjoy the outdoors, sunshine and music
Research Interests I am interested in exploring the social impact of dementia and the intersections with culture.

Having done most of my research in South Africa with participants from diverse backgrounds, I am also interested in how research methods can be more inclusive and decolonised.
Teaching and Learning I am a Senior Lecturer in the Social Work department in the School for Health and Social Wellbeing. This includes teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students and acting as academic tutor.
