Abstract

Earworms features song performances from the Song Archive Project installed underwater in a public swimming pool. The project focuses on the role of singing and swimming to explore ritual and community in public places. The sound work is audible only underwater and triggers the swimmer's inner melodies. The title of the underwater sound installation is a borrowed word from the German Ohrwurm and describes a part of a song that repeats within one's mind.

This exhibition was funded by the Good Ideas Award from Safle and Holy Hiatus. The exhibition was recommended by the Guardian and reviewed for the Sioe Gelf programme on S4C.
