Abstract
Wide-ranging collection on Neo-Noir cinema. Combines genre, major conventions (femme fatale, paranoia, anxiety, the city, the threat to the self; and the use of sound and colour) stylistic and textual analysis with Marxist, feminist, psychoanalytic and industrial approaches. 15 essays plus introduction discuss works from the US, UK, France, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and New Zealand as well as key figures, such as David Lynch, the Coen Brothers, Quentin Tarantino and Sharon Stone.
