Allwihan, Regad; Brailsford, Tim; Cobb, Sue
Abstract
The rapid development of mobile information technology opens the doors for a variety of ubiquitous services to grow. This paper is a part of research aims to investigate methods of capturing and sharing experience in the field trip by using mobile devices. This paper illustrates the outcomes of a comparison study of capturing experience by using mobile devices.
It presents the result of two qualitative studies aimed to determine the methods and the tools that the university students use to capture their experience in the field trip.
The design of first study consisted of two phases of research:
Phase 1: An observation of 60 undergraduate students from Geography school and 22 undergraduate students from Architecture school in the field trips with the university.
Phase 2: An interview session with 10 undergraduate students from Geography school and 10 undergraduate students from Architecture school.
As the design of the second study consisted of two phases of research:
Phase 1: An observation of 6 undergraduate students from Geography school and 6 undergraduate students from Architecture school in the field trips with the university.
Phase 2: An interview session with 6 undergraduate students from Geography school and 6 undergraduate students from Architecture school.
Because there are two case studies from diverse discipline, the study discovers similarity and difference in a number of subjects between the geography and architecture students such as organisation, transformation, privacy and data sharing.
