Abstract
This paper describes an event held as part of the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Festival of Social Science and was funded by the ESRC and the University of the West of England (UWE). It took place on an afternoon in March 2013 in an inner city school in Bristol, England. This was an educational and knowledge exchange event, not an empirical study. This means that the findings presented here are observational, specific to the event, and not statistically significant or widely generalisable. This was a small scale pilot event to test an alternative method for engaging student participants in discussions around sexual violence (i.e., not the traditional student-teacher discussion), which produced some interesting outcomes that are worth considering for future engagement strategies.
