How to play Utopia

Authors
Abstract
'How to play Utopia' explores the work and research context of Jonathan Mosley and Sophie Warren's collaborative practice. The paper examines how the strategies of play, hybridization, participation and the construction of situations within the work resists homogeneous perceptions of urban and architectural space. Architectural space is put forward within the work as both a discursive and negotiated zone where the notion of Utopia can be deliberated and can allow for the co-existence of difference. Focusing on projects Platform, Rogue Game, Utopian talk-show line-up and Beyond Utopia the paper will scrutinise the trans-disciplinary art/architecture process, the relation of the practice to research, the conceptual underpinning and spatial outcomes of the work.
