Abstract
This chapter presents the aims and purpose of youth work- what it is, where it happens and who does it. It outlines the roles of youth workers and how they work illustrated with case studies from practice. It offers a ?avour of debates and issues facing youth work as a result of the opportunities and tensions created by recent transformations of these services. Opportunities include the integration of services and the challenge of collaborative working with different professionals for the bene?t of young people.
