Abstract
From staging previous events (CML Tests, HDR Innovation Laboratory with UoB Fac of Engineering) CMIR had learned that an important issue within engagement between industry and academic disciplines is the osmotic learning process where both learn from eachother. When we broaden these environments to include the public - then the public also takes part in the learning process.
At Flaxton's instigation, CMIR staged the 1st Bristol International Festival of Cinematography between 14th to 18th September 2015 and this an event where 2500 academics, students, industry professionals and the public visited the Arnolfini to take part in 16 cinematography masterclasses, instruction classes, show and tells, panels, retrospectives and debates between different crew in the film making discipline.
This event was sponsored by Panalux Lighting and supported by various organisations including IMAGO (the international federation of Cinematography Associations) and both ASC and BSC magazines.
The second event will happen in September 2016.
