Abstract

Rheumatic conditions are a range of long-term, physical health conditions that affect the joints, bones, and connective tissues. These conditions can have substantial psychological impact and wide-reaching effects on patients' lives. These conditions can have extensive intrapersonal, interpersonal, and wider social consequences. The experience of self-managing a rheumatic condition, including patients' skills and personal or contextual factors, can also shape how someone lives with a rheumatic condition.
