Real business cycle facts of Maldivian economy

Abstract

This paper documents real business cycle for the Maldivian economy. The dataset used in this paper is constructed from old archives to achieve a long enough time series. This is the first study which documents the business cycle regularities for the Maldives. In doing so, I have used the conventional HP filter and and more modern Hamilton filter. Our finding shows that Hamilton filters better explains the business cycle of the Maldives and the results and broadly consistent with emerging economy literature.
