Abstract

The learning-by-doing studio environment has been redefined and transformed during COVID-19 and is now primarily delivered online. What before could have been considered an impossibility has now become the norm. Architecture schools all over the world are tutoring through online-platforms with thought-provoking results that will challenge the old status-quo to a much more agile future for architectural-studio education. The University of the West of England in the UK presents the case of a Socially-Distanced External Learning Environment (R3) as an agile future practice-research model. A hands-on transformative student practice opportunity that has enabled to get away from the monotony of the screens while understanding the difficulties of building something real.
