Abstract
The built environment we experience shapes us, as perceptions become memories and facilitate learning. Urban skins can be powerful media which have been used to convey meanings and educate people since ancient times. Nowadays, they are a form of art offering opportunities to communicate impactful messages on current issues, and to significantly improve the quality of public spaces as catalysts for social interaction, while also educating on the benefits of solar power. Ways of promoting positive change through contemporary urban skins and of integrating solar power into design are presented.
