Abstract

Multicultural considerations in mental health service provision is now a necessity. In light of modern technologies and travelling means, as well as social and global events, people of the world are moving constantly. Adding to this mobility, minority groups in societies rates have grown. White American’s proportion of the total population in the US has dropped from 80.3% in 1990 to 75,1% in 2000. Minorities in the United States are also expected to comprise more than 40% of the U.S. population by 2035 and 47% by 2050. 178, 485 refugees have asked for asylum in Greece since 2013. That is an average of 2833 per month. 57,330 of them are children and adolescents and 6,885 were unaccompanied children. Currently in Greece, there are 35 governmental, legal and non – governmental organizations who offer practical, legal as well as psychosocial support to refugees. Given the recent events and developments around the globe, it has become imperative to conceptualize diverse populations’ needs and address them in the fields of health and mental health care.
