Abstract

It is observed over the years that each time there is a major event in an area and there is an upsurge of crowd for its attendance, it is always very difficult to get a call through in that area within the period by which the event is taking place. In this work, we undertook an investigation of the key performance indicators (KPI) for quality of service (QoS) evaluation in an operational GSM network as a metric in evaluating the sites/cells covering the area by which the event was holding. We noticed a baseline that correlates cellular network QoS within an area with the mobility of people or upsurge of crowd in that area and suggested measures of improving on the network QoS.
