Abstract

Two etchings were selected for the exhibition Fort III and Fort I.

Now in its second year, the John Ruskin Prize has attracted a fantastic calibre of talent in 2014 from across over the country and you can admire all shortlisted artworks as part of Recording Britain Now at the Millenium Gallery in Sheffield.

Brought to you by the Campaign for Drawing in collaboration with the Guild of St.George, this year's John Ruskin Prize invited artists to create "fresh, contemporary visions of their urban, rural or social environment". As such the work by the 23 shortlisted artists includes gritty concrete estates to more familiar scenes of mass housing developments, as well as pictures by the 2014 John Ruskin Prize winner Maggie Hargreaves.

The exhibition accompanies Recording Britain, a touring V&A collection that features works made during the Second World War. Together, the two exhibitions offer visitors the opportunity to admire spectacular visual comment on the state of the nation then and now.

Recording Britain Now runs from 28 June to 12 October 2014 at Millenium Gallery, Sheffield before heading to London's Trinity Buoy Wharf from 12-30 November, along with an exciting events programme.
