Abstract
It has previously been demonstrated that individuals with PTSD show differences in how they process emotional information, but this has been predominantly investigated using visual-only paradigms, despite the fact that emotion perception is known to be a multisensory process. This study uses EEG to determine whether individuals with PTSD differ in: (1) how they process emotional cues across unisensory and multisensory stimuli, and (2) how they process congruent and incongruent multisensory stimuli, relative to individuals without PTSD and/or a history of trauma, as well as to elucidate the perceptual/cognitive mechanisms driving these potential differences.
