Dr Emmanuel Nsiah Amoako Emmanuel.Nsiahamoako@uwe.ac.uk
Senior Lecturer in Forensic Science
A Forensic Science Regulator's (FSR) role was established in England and Wales at a time when the UK forensic science sector was undergoing significant structural changes that would introduce commercialization—a system of direct charging for forensic science services. The role of the FSR was introduced to oversee the quality of forensic science services, and since its establishment in 2007 has created a level playing field for quality standards requirements, albeit with reported challenges. The role has, in 2021, been provided with long-awaited statutory powers that may transform the way quality and risks are managed across the forensic science marketplace.
