Abstract
Human Rights NGOs have been central to human rights documentation, advocacy and defence both during and after conflict. Yet, despite the recognition of their added value and importance, NGOs come under significant strain because they guard the frontline of accountability during conflict and are often seen as the guardians of backsliding in the post-conflict phase.
