The magnitude and frequency of extreme rainfall within north-east Scotland over an historical timespan

Authors
Abstract
This paper evaluates the magnitude, frequency, duration and seasonality of extreme rainfall over an historical timespan in the Findhorn and Spey river basins, in north-east Scotland. Patterns are compared with published results from other rainfall gauges in eastern Scotland to assess the degree of regional synchronism in fluctuations in the magnitude and frequency of extreme rainfall. The hydro-meteorological implications are also established as a basis for the future substantiation of historical flood chronologies for the two catchments. © 1993 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
