The paper delivers as an innovative approach to learning and teaching of software engineering in large groups with reflections on quantitative and qualitative practical investigations run while teaching 170 students at UWE. This has been adopted while teaching software engineering at UWE and is being continuously assessed and reflected on. A post-research outcome of this work has been the significant improvement in both the attainment and performance of students studying software engineering in their second year with reflections carried over when final year software development projects are undertaken.
