Additional Information Additional Information : This research makes use of video by a University and Training School partnership to record and help analyse the teaching of mentors and trainees and also includes pupils' voice to enrich the professional dialogue. This three way conversation situates all participants as learners and appears to help foster a community of enquiry in the school, opening up possibilities of a new epistemological base to understand professional learning. The potential of the approach attracted the interest of the General Teaching Council of England who featured the school in its publication Learning Conversations (2004). The research has featured in the Bristol Education Service seminar programme and in an invited presentation to the Cardiff Mentoring Partnership Conference (July 2006) The paper originated in a BERA conference paper in 2004. Whitehead was responsible for 60% of this publication.
