Additional Information Additional Information : Single-authored chapter for edited book on art in the public realm in London. Doherty addresses social interaction as a means of artistic production and the subject of artistic endeavour, exploring the ethical and aesthetic implications of participation. This chapter locates the case studies in London within an international context of research from Nicolas Bourriaud's discussion of �Relational Aesthetics' to Grant Kester's discussion of littoral practices. Doherty's chapter emerges out of her previous work on art and social engagement including her text �Social Work / Social Sculpure� (Supermanual, Liverpool: FACT, 2000) and her participation in the Interrupt series of seminars on art as social engagement in 2003. As a result of the publication, Doherty was invited to join the Executive Panel of IXIA, the national think tank for public art practice and to join the advisory panel for the Centennial Art Commission for Bristol University. In addition, Doherty has been invited to curate the first national series of One Day Sculpture commissions in New Zealand in 2008-09 and to present a paper at the Manifestation Internationale d'Art, Centre d'Essai en Art Actuel, Quebec 2008.
