Abstract
Since we realised we were heading for Rosemary Nursery School’s 90th birthday, we have been on an amazing journey of discovery. Supported by our local historian, Edson, a group of parents and staff members delved into the Bristol Record Office archives to explore the history of the school; Ian and Dawn, two of our longest serving staff, visited ex-pupils to find out what they remember about their time at Rosemary; parents shared poignant memories and reflected on what Rosemary means to them; teachers talked with children about their favourite things in the nursery and what they might like to change; governors and staff laughed and wept as we shared anecdotes that moved and amused us. The story of Rosemary Nursery School is not one story. It is a rich compendium of the hundreds of stories of children who took their first steps into the world here and of the parents and neighbours who have made their home in this community and embraced Rosemary as “our nursery”. I hope you will treasure this 90th Anniversary souvenir booklet and that it does honour to your special memories.
