Abstract
This contribution to the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) Comments page considers the role of place-based leadership in post COVID-19 recovery. It suggests that, notwithstanding the growth in technologies enabling us to communicate effortlessly across space, place still matters a great deal in modern life. By drawing on the experience of innovative local authorities in Germany and the UK it suggests that place-based leadership can make an important contribution to post COVID-19 recovery strategies.
