Abstract
Discussing the methodologies and research methods of 'Walking Interconnections' - a research project that worked in the Bristol region from 2013 – 2014 using walking, conversation and creative activities as methods to trigger communication between self-identified disabled people and sustainability practitioners, to facilitate an exchange of knowledge and insights into different experiences in and of the world. It recognised and responded to the fact that disabled people’s voices have been largely absent from resilience debates. Disabled people have unique contributions to help build resilient societies and communities. The conversations they held whilst walking were recorded and edited into an audio play 'Going for a Walk', made by Dee Heddon.
Walking Interconnections was a participatory action research project, using photography, audio recording, map making photo-elicitation and other creative methods as tools for the research methods working with participant co-researchers.
