Additional Information Additional Information : In 2005, Action on Access, HEFCE's co-ordinating team for widening participation, undertook a series of team visits to five OECD countries to explore approaches to widening participation policy and practice. The research provided international comparative evidence to underpin the development of policy and practice in England. Hatt led the team undertaking the Canadian visit and one theme to emerge was the use of credit frameworks in British Columbia to enable students who begin their HE studies in community colleges to complete their degree within universities. The BC experience has resonance for the emerging LLNs in England and this work has formed the basis for seminars with the LLN development managers, HEFCE, practitioners and researchers.
