Abstract

Playing with Fire aimed to be the biggest presentation of enamel art to have taken place in the UK. The Devon Guild of Craftsmen along with the University of the West of England and the British Society of Enamellers presented this major survey of contemporary UK enamelling. Central to the concept of 'Playing with Fire' is that of 'play' where each artist will extend traditional methods to make new forms. Major prizes have been given to the most innovative work.
