Implications for practice and research

Findings highlight the role of external (response from families, colleagues and wider perspectives) and internal factors (processing emotions, acceptance and looking to the future) following an obstetric work-related trauma.

There is a requirement to develop effective methods of preparing and supporting maternity professionals in the context of severe work-related experiences.
