Abstract

Dermatological hair loss (alopecia) is a devastating condition and not ‘just’ cosmetic. Wigs are recommended as a treatment by the British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE); however, wig provision is not equal in England. At Alopecia UK, we understand what is best practice for wig provision and aim for this to be adopted. We have been working with NHS England and NHS improvement to develop a best practice wigs
charter, with input from key stakeholders to improve and eliminate variations in care.
