Abstract

Neptun Art/Science Lab, Museum Nord A physical and theoretical hub in the Intersection of Art and Science at the Norwegian Fishing Industry Museum, North Norway. Herring oil was produced here for more than 70 years, and now it is home to the Norwegian Fishing Industry Museum. The Lab functions as an international hub and lab for hypothetical and conceptual research in the field of art and science with the main focus on new ways of harvesting the sea, and new ways of processing what we harvest from the sea, through the use of experimental and new technology.

Neptun Developers Camp

A group of scientists, coders/ developers and artists from various universities internationally take part in Neptun Art /Science Lab from Aug-Oct 2016. The group will research concepts and develop new code inspired by Neptun’s history and connection to the fishing industry. New technology for the fishing industry will be brainstormed and development based on hypothetical and conceptual ideas takes centre stage. The camp is supported by Arts Council Norway.
