Pedagogy in teaching & examining karate students

Abstract

Traditional Japanese methods of teaching and examining students has its focus in learning by rote. The article argues for more contemporary pedagogic approaches to teaching and assessing traditional martial arts students, suggesting a range of formative and summative approaches.
