Abstract

This is the first in a series of short discussion papers, sharing learnings and reflections from the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)-funded Citizen Science Collaboration Grants (CSCG). It focuses on the experience of doing ‘citizen science’.1 This involves exploring what it means and feels like to be involved in ‘citizen science’ from a range of perspectives, including those of academic teams, those of ‘citizen’ researchers, and those of other partners in research projects. The paper explores cross-cutting themes from the programme, alongside stories from CSCG projects, sharing reflections and questions to support further inquiry.
