Abstract
The work is a chapter contribution to the book Security/Mobility: Politics of Movement edited by Matthias Leese and Stephanie Wittendorp. In the chapter, I draw on empirical material concerning processes deployed in the UK Fire and Rescue Service to source data from fire emergencies as they unfold. I show how such processes are shaped and facilitated by various forms of movement and also imply changes to the form that data take. Both the movement and transformation of data are shown to have ontogenetic qualities in terms of how future fire risks can be thought of in the present.
