The art of printing in the digital age

Abstract

Technology has had an enormous influence on Artists, and yet time and again, Artists have demonstrated how they use and subvert print technology for their own creative requirements. The impact of new materials, digital printing, disruptive technologies such as mass production for bespoke print consumerism, 2.5D and 3D printing, all have contributed to new ways to create multiples and editions. And yet, as artists we are human ghosts in the printing machine, reminding technology of the need for the analogue, the physical, the well designed, and the hand made, and finally in this digital age, we are returning to much needed conversations about what it is to be human. Prof Carinna Parraman will explore the concept of the multiple in the digital age.
