Abstract

Urodynamic assessment is undertaken with patients to provide an objective and clinical evaluation of bothersome lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS). The use of patient-centred questionnaires alongside urodynamic evaluation is an important adjunct in order to capture the patient’s perspective of their symptom severity and impact on quality of life. These data can complement each other in identifying the most appropriate course of treatment according to the clinical findings and priorities of the patient experiencing symptoms. This chapter will provide information regarding the relevance of patient-reported outcome (PRO) measures in the assessment of LUTS and highlight important facets of their development in order to appropriately select PROs for use in the clinical and research setting.
