Abstract

Voyage Inside A Blind Experience
VIBE, Voyage Inside a Blind Experience, has the aim of creating a model for a temporary art exhibition, that can be reproduced and that will have an equal interest both for seeing and for visually impaired individuals.
The artistic project was born from a collaboration between Tooteko and Atlante Servizi Culturali with the support of the American institution The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation and the scientific validation of the Istituto dei Ciechi di Milano.
Tooteko technology makes the abstract works of Josef and Anni Albers explorable, using an experimental method that can be applied to various needs. For visitors with visual disabilities, a didactic approach is usually chosen, helping them to recognize artworks by tracing compositional lines using touch.

Fabio D'Agnano was in charge (with Tooteko srl) of the interpretations of two artworks by Anni and Joseph Albers, with the idea of making the artwork accessible to blind people, and in the meantime, designed for all, with a different tridimensional approach to the artworks.
The tour was enhanced by special wristband developed by D'Agnano (with Tooteko srl) that allowed the visitors to have audio information of the artworks and experiences that they were touching.

More in specific other installations were made (Atlante Servizi) to give to the general public the idea of a 'blind experience' in a complete dark enviroment.
The system developed by D'Agnano and Tooteko, provided audio information about the things that were touched in the dark, using a digital wristband.

Within this project, the company Tooteko (founded by Fabio D'Agnano and Serena Ruffato) was in charge of the following re-interpretation of Albers' artworks:
- Three-dimensional wooden interpretation by Tooteko - Anni Albers’s “Wall XIII,”
- Three-dimensional resin interpretation by Tooteko - Joseph Albers's "Monte Alban"
In addition, Tooteko developed all the audio tactile digital guide system of the exhibition.
