Abstract

Based on a broad programme of research generated by staff across the Centre for Fine Print Research, which led to the award of an AHRC-funded research project ('Methodologies for the integration of fine art practice and wide format digital printing', award of £236,670) this patent (PCT International WO 2005002863) was filed for a means of hyper-accurate registration of large sheets of paper in a large format ink jet print machine so as to enable an image to be precisely placed for accurate double printing. This output benefited from its part in a large research centre with impact in both the commercial and academic communities. Research outcomes were further disseminated to the Southern Graphics Council Conference, Boston, Mass., USA, April 2003 (Questions of authenticity, geopolitical division, and production in the laser print era); Hewlett Packard European Art and Science Philanthropy Conference, Florence, Italy, June 2003 ('A Perpetual Portfolio'); Micheles School of Art, University of Capetown, South Africa, IMPACT 3, August 2003 ('From Conflict to Conduit Print').
