Abstract

This 128 page academic book was a product of the research related to the Training Social Studies and History Educators for A Multicultural Europe (EU Funded ‘Promoting Civil Society Dialogue Between The European Union and Turkey’ programme, value 151 679 Euros). Partners: UWE Bristol UK; Erciyes University, Kayseri, Turkey; Karadeniz University, Trabzon, Turkey. The book describes and models a series of active learning and classroom management strategies with the intention of developing classroom practice in Turkey. The Turkish teacher education partners felt that the book was a very significant contribution to developing history education and circulated it to colleagues at all of the Turkish universities with education faculties. 500 copies were produced in English and circulated to teacher educators in the UK and elsewhere in Europe and 5000 copies were produced in Turkey, with the bulk going to serving teachers in schools and a significant number going to Turkish teacher educators.
