Spiritual care: Enhancing meaning in pregnancy and birth

Abstract

Spiritual care has been recognised as an aspect of nursing for many years. The purpose of this article is to prompt discussion about spirituality and spiritual care in relation to midwifery practice and birth. Application is made to the education of midwives in the UK including reference to NMC guidance. Research is identified relating to women's experiences.
