Abstract
This research looks at collective learning and explores the application of the concept of communities of practice (CoP) within a Team Academy context, where students form team companies (TC) of around 15-20 members from day 1 and for 3 years. It aims to analyze how and to what extent TCs create or act as CoPs that help its members share knowledge and learn from each other through the facilitation of their team-coach. To reach this objective the following research questions are addressed: To what extent do team-companies within Team Entrepreneurship act as a CoP? Which role does the team-coach play in facilitating knowledge-sharing within TC and acting as a CoP manager? For this purpose, we use a case study methodology with documentary analysis and semi structured interviews, which were conducted to year 2 team entrepreneurs from the undergraduate degree in UWE (Bristol, UK) between July and November 2018. The findings are presented along with the researchers’ personal reflections as a team coach of that TC.
