The proposed conceptual model identifies the predominant research issues, which have significant implications on children’s opportunities for quality play. It seeks to draw together previous research and to provide a foundation for future work in this field. This study has adopted a multidisciplinary approach in the analysis and synthesis of current and emerging bodies of work in play, the built environment, health, sociology, economy, and psychology, to name but a few. It seeks to provide guidance to research and practice, and ensure the development of innovative approaches for designing supportive and sustainable play environments for children.}, conference = {Fourth International Conference on Design Principles and Practices}, publicationstatus = {Unpublished}, url = {https://uwe-repository.worktribe.com/output/981297}, keyword = {The WHO Collaborating Centre for Healthy Urban Environment, Centre for Architecture and Built Environment Research, children, play, built environment, outdoors, physical activiy}, year = {2010}, author = {Shirin, Rowhani and Mahdjoubi, Lamine} }
